CB Clutches And Brakes For Can Making Machinery
the rubber air tube is a connecting member between the drive shaft and the driven shaft
Since the rubber air tube is a connecting member between the drive shaft and the driven shaft, the CB design provides the following functions in addition to the contraction function described earlier in this section.
1. The air tube is the only moving part. No springs or sliding parts.
2. The air tube transmits torque through its side wall, cushioning the damaged impact load, thereby protecting the transmission components. The rubber air tube structure mitigates the effects of torsional vibrations.
3. The flexibility of the air tube can compensate for less misalignment and axial movement of the shaft.
4. Component sizes 6CB200 and above can be used for split configurations. They are used to maintain limited axial space or where the rollers are mounted between bearings and the shaft cannot be moved for maintenance. Until 10CB300 size can only be used as the brake. Larger sizes can also be used for relatively low speed clutch applications. Please note that split air tubes are not as durable as standard round air tubes.
